  2. Gather Documents: Collect all required documents per visa category, including Certificate of Eligibility (COE) for long-term statuses.

  3. Complete Application Form: Fill out and print the official visa application form as required.

  4. Submit Application:

  • eVISA (short-term): Available via online portal; shown electronically.

  • Paper Application: Submit in person or via authorized visa center (e.g., VFS Global).

5. Pay Fees: Standard fees:

  • Tourist (single-entry): ¥3,000

  • Multiple-entry: ¥6,000

6. Wait for Processing: Processing typically takes:

  • ~5–10 business days for short-term visas, longer for long-term and COE processing.

  • COE processing may take 1–3 months.

7. Receive Visa:

  • eVISA: Received electronically.

  • Sticker visa: Pick up from visa center or by mail. Reported timelines: ~5–7 business days.

8. Travel to Japan: Long-term visa holders must register their residence with local authorities and obtain a residence card upon arrival.
